How to Set Up SwellPro Fisherman Max (FD2): Step-by-Step Guide

Setting up your Fisherman Max (FD2) drone correctly is essential for optimal performance and safety. Follow this comprehensive guide to prepare your drone for fishing adventures:

1. Unboxing the Package

Inside the SwellPro Fisherman FD2 box, you will find:

  • SwellPro Fisherman FD2 Drone
  • Intelligent Flight Battery
  • Balance Charger and Power Cable
  • Remote Controller
  • Propellers (marked A and B)
  • Floating Devices
  • Phone Holder
  • USB Cable

2. Charging the Drone Battery

  1. Connect the charger cables to the matching ports (red to red, black to black).
  2. Insert the balance cable into the charger.
  3. Plug the battery into the charger as shown.
  4. Turn on the charger and set it to LiPo Balance Charging Mode at 4A current.
  5. Press “Enter” to start charging.
  6. Wait for the charger to display “FULL” and beep, then unplug the battery.

3. Installing the Battery

  1. Insert the battery plug facing the rear into the battery compartment.
  2. Secure the battery by locking all four latches.
  3. Ensure the latches are tight and the battery is firmly in place.

4. Attaching Propellers

  1. Match the A and B markings on the propellers to the corresponding motor hubs.
  2. Hold the motor base and tighten the propellers in the direction of the arrows.

5. Installing Floating Devices

  2. Install the phone holder (optional):
    • Align the holder threads to the base of the controller.
    • Secure it by tightening the mounting knob.
  3. Spread the antennas and position them at a 45° angle for optimal signal reception.
  4. If needed, attach a sunshade for better screen visibility.

7. Powering On the Drone and Controller

  1. Turn on the Remote Controller:
    • Press the power button once briefly, then press and hold for 3 seconds.
  2. Turn on the Drone:

  3. Wait for the drone to perform self-checks:
    • Rear LED lights will flash red and green, then turn solid green when ready.

8. Pre-Flight Preparation

  1. Place the drone in an open area, away from obstacles.
  2. Verify:
    • Battery voltage is above 24V.
    • GPS signal shows at least 9 satellites.
    • Drone is in GPS Mode (recommended for first flights).

9. Attaching Payload

  1. Use a tether or dropper line to secure your bait.
  2. Toggle the payload switch on the remote controller:
    • Down: Opens the release mechanism.
    • Up: Closes and secures the payload.
  3. Ensure the line is straight and weighed down to prevent entanglement during takeoff.

10. Takeoff and Flight Controls

  1. Stand at least 3 meters away from the drone.
  2. Start the Motors: Pull both joysticks down and inward.
  3. Push the throttle stick up to lift off slowly.

Controller Stick Movements

  • Left Joystick:
    • Up/Down: Ascend/Descend
    • Left/Right: Rotate Counterclockwise/Clockwise
  • Right Joystick:
    • Up/Down: Move Forward/Backward
    • Left/Right: Move Left/Right
  1. Use the payload switch to drop your bait when ready.
  2. Press the Return to Home (RTH) button to automatically return the drone to the takeoff point.

11. Post-Flight Care

  1. Land the drone by gently pushing the left joystick down.
  2. Hold the joystick down for 3 seconds to stop the motors.
  3. Power off the drone and remote controller.
  4. Rinse the drone, motors, gimbal, and payload release mechanism thoroughly with fresh water to prevent corrosion.
